New Updates!!

The staff at Ethereal Lights has been working hard to put fresh, new ideas into action. We've taken suggestions from members and made them possible! An example of this would be the Ethereal Lights' Dice Roller. Through Javascript, you are now able to efficiently play any pbp roleplaying game that requires dice assistance. ZanNight, another administrator, has also been working hard on getting the vlogs done. On August first, he debuted the first vlog of EL 3.0. Midnight Insanity and Nikkia have also brought back an old idea and made it work - the podcast! Yesterday, they made the first 15 minute podcast - talking of food, their favorite movies, etc! There has also been talk of featuring a member for the next podcast.

Another idea that the staff is working hard to bring to life are competitions in the Creative Works section. They want to hold competitions in photography, writing, drawing, music-making, video making - the likes! Prizes to these competitions are being decided now, but it is likely that it'll involve a creative upgrade to someone's account.

Last, but certainly not least, Ethereal Lights has introduced a more elaborate way of recognizing "Member of the Month." From now on, the member of the month will receive a recognition topic, where people can congratulate them. Along with this, the member will also receive a "custom usertitle" as well as a colored username - orange!

August's MOTM is ParadoxInABox. Though a new member, she's proven what it means to be loyal and dedicated. So check out her recognition topic! That's all from EL right now - more updates coming soon!

EL is Back in Business!!

If you haven't been keeping up with the latest news of Ethereal Lights, you don't know that Ethereal Lights is no longer hosted by vBulletin! In fact, we've moved back to Zetaboards! Originally, we moved to vBulletin for the different updates and options offered on vBulletin, but let's face it - Ethereal Lights is a Roleplaying Forum and always will be. In which case, Ethereal Lights' staff wants stability. We want to be able to offer our members security and assurance that they won't lose their work. We can do this more effectively on Zetaboards.

The member base, thus far, seems rather happy about the move back to Zetaboards. Since the move on July 4, 2010, we've acquired more than 150 new members and three dozen new roleplays. Midnight Insanity, advertiser extraordinaire, has featured Roleplays on not only Twitter, but Facebook as well! Mass emails have been sent, and Roleplay of the Week is back with a vengeance.

With our move, we've even added a new staff member. MidnightDragon, Community Moderator is in charge of content. Now that we have a moderator to jumpstart the community, we offer not only Roleplays, but a great off-topic community.

Nikkia is finishing the portal and ZanNight's creating the first vlog - EL is officially back!

Member Groups & Monthly Tributes

Salutations! It’s about time another EL blog was posted, is it not? Well, your long wait is over. Here is the scoop on what’s new on EL.

Member Groups – Newly added to EL is the Member Group subforum of Ethereal Lights Community. All members are free to post applications for a desired group, which can be a video game fan club, a community of zombie-slayers, etc. The groups are for gathering together people of a single interest all in one wonderful place. You get your own subforum for the group, so start joining and making them today! For more information, visit the Information and Applications subforum under Member Groups. You’ll find everything you need to know right there.

EL Monthly Tributes – Even newer than the Member Groups is the EL Monthly Tributes feature. Each month, the following will be given the honor of having a special mention in the Monthly Tributes: one EL member, one roleplay, one topic, and one character. If you want something (or someone) to be considered for one of those areas, send in your nominations to Midnight Insanity! Your reasons for nominating the person/character/roleplay/topic are necessary as well, so don’t forget to explain yourself or your nomination will be ignored. If you see something that deserves special recognition, be sure to send in a nomination! For more information on the nomination process and past winners, check out the Monthly Tributes subforum under Site News.

That’s about all the important material that needs to be said. We’ve had quite the influx of members lately, so if you’re new to the site, be sure to check out the roleplays and start joining/posting. There are plenty of amazing ones out there that need more people, so go have a ball!

Shalom out.

Other news in the "Roleplaying Community" section, The Tiny Turtle was a thread opened recently that serves as EL's first and so far official bar. This social hangout consists of it's own set of Staff (member volunteers), including Bartenders, DJs, and we're still hiring! So if you'd like to apply for a position or if you would just like to give it a look and stop by for a cold one, go ahead and take a look. We'll be saving a seat for you.

Introducing the vlogs & other things

Hello again, blog followers and Ethereal Light members. Today, an administrator by the name of ZanNight released the first vlog. It was mostly just a test to see how it would all turn out, and viola! It turned out fantastic. The staff of Ethereal Lights are aiming to release a single vlog every other Monday as a more personal way for the staff to make announcements. Also, to jazz things up, Zan decided to host a "theme song" contest in which members are able to submit songs to be played during the vlogs. The only stipulation to this contest is this: The song must be completely original. To submit a song for the vlog updates, email Ethereal Lights' main account: EtherealLightsRP@gmail.com

Also, on top of vlogs, talk of podcasts seem to be in Ethereal Lights' future as well. These however, are meant to be entirely different than vlogs. Where vlogs are used as updates and announcements, podcasts will be used to interview members, and generally talk random jargon about Ethereal Lights. So look out Ethereal Lights' members, there seems to be a lot in this community's future.

Introduction to Ethereal Lights

On September 24, 2009 members by the name of Nikkia, ZanNight and Midnight Insanity opened Ethereal Lights to the entire internet. Since registration has opened, the memberbase has grown at an average of 25 members per day! This is due to the staff's outstanding advertising efforts. Many of you may be wondering, what is this "Ethereal Lights"? I can answer that for you in just a few short sentences. Ethereal Lights is a community of different people from different countries, races, genders, age groups. Now, you may be wondering what brings all these different people together, and the answer is this: Roleplay. All these people share a love for writing, and doing so together. With a smaller community, these people become much like a close-knit family, life long friends.

This community offers much more than just a place to post your roleplays, though. There's an off-topic forum to simply interact with your fellow members. There's a creative works forum to post anything you have made or created, through any medium you can imagine. If you haven't yet checked out Ethereal Lights, what are you waiting for?
